Moving the World

Since 2002, TNT has been an active partner of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world's largest humanitarian aid agency.

This partnership is active in three sectors:

Knowledge transfer

Through this program, TNT sends specialist skilled people to all parts of the world to help WFP build capacity and exchange skills and knowledge.
These specialist volunteers offer WFP highly specific knowledge that stems from TNT’s own commercial business experience in transportation, logistics, IT and project management.
Since the beginning of the partnership, more than 70 TNT specialists have worked with WFP on projects all over the world.

Awareness and fundraising

Throughout this partnership, TNT has played an important role in raising awareness and funds for WFP’s fight against hunger.
TNT does this through a range of activities. They include high profile public events such as Walk the World and Color the World; cause-related marketing campaigns; the dispatch of employees around the world to assist WFP’s School Feeding Program and encouraging fundraising among employees, suppliers and customers.

In Liege, fundraisings take place every year through different activities such as selling of TNT promotional items, renting of our Boeing 747 for commercials but also in 2009 the organization of an autograph session at the famous football team ‘Standard de Liège ».

Hands-on support in emergency operations

TNT gives WFP hands-on support by providing skilled people when and where it’s needed. TNT also makes available its various resources including warehouses, aircraft and vehicles.

TNT supports WFP in its Emergency Operations and works with them on projects to ensure quicker and more efficient transport of emergency supplies to those areas where they are needed.

By providing hands-on support TNT employees do what they are good at – using their considerable expertise and experience to make distribution and logistics work as best as they can.
